Rewards
Can I pay advocates in cash or by PayPal? No. Rewards are WooCommerce coupons. You can give points or store credit instead, see Reward advocates with points or store credit. For cash, use the Event Logs to see who earned what and pay them yourself.
Can I give a reward for every referral, or only some? Every qualifying referral earns a reward by default. You can reward every Nth referral, cap the number of rewards, or stack them into one coupon. See the guides in the Rewards section, starting with How rewards are issued.
What happens if the friend’s order is refunded or cancelled? If the reward was already created, it stays. The plugin doesn’t take coupons back. To be safe, reward on Completed and complete orders after your return window. See How rewards are issued.
Can the friend get a discount too? Yes. Set a coupon in Friend Reward. It’s applied when the friend arrives through a referral link. See Friend reward settings.
Links and codes
Does the friend need an account? No. Guests can use a referral link or code, and the advocate is still rewarded.
Can customers choose their own referral code? Not by themselves. You can change a customer’s code, see Change a customer’s referral code.
What if the friend clicks the link on their phone but buys on their laptop? The referral is stored in a cookie in the browser where the link was clicked, so it’s lost on another device. Turn on referral codes so friends can type the code at checkout instead. See Referral codes at checkout.
How long does a referral last? As long as Cookie Time in General Settings, 7 days by default. If a friend clicks a second advocate’s link, the last click counts. See Referral links, landing page and cookies.
Can customers without an account refer friends? Yes, if you turn on Enable referral links for guests. See Guest referrals.
Sharing and display
Can customers share on Instagram or TikTok? There are no buttons for them, because those apps don’t accept shared links from websites. Customers can copy their link and post it in their bio or a message.
Can I put the referral section on any page? Yes, with a shortcode. See Shortcodes.
Stores and setups
Does it work with the block cart and checkout? Yes. A few developer hooks only fire on the classic cart and checkout. See Developers: hooks and filters.
Does it work on multisite or with several currencies? Yes, with limits. See Known compatibility issues.
Is it GDPR friendly? Referral data stays in your WordPress database. The Mailchimp and Omnisend integrations add customers as subscribed, so check your consent rules before turning them on. See Integrations overview.
Will I lose referral data if I switch from the free version? No. Premium uses the same settings and codes. See Install and activate Premium.
Licence
What happens when my licence expires? The plugin keeps working, but you stop getting updates. See Licence, renewals and billing.
Do staging sites use an activation? No. Local and staging domains don’t count toward your site limit.
