Using Revenue First Analytics Alongside Google Analytics 4

Last updated

Revenue First Analytics and Google Analytics 4 can run on the same site without interfering. Revenue First Analytics sends its data to your own WordPress site, never to Google, and it does not touch the GA4 tag. Many store owners use it as a Google Analytics alternative and remove GA4 entirely; others keep GA4 for features only Google offers.

Can I replace Google Analytics completely?

For most stores, yes. Traffic sources, campaigns, landing pages, countries, devices, revenue, products, funnels and goals are all in the Revenue First Analytics dashboard, with WooCommerce revenue on every report and no e-commerce tagging to set up.

Keep GA4 running if you rely on something only Google provides, such as audience sync with Google Ads or BigQuery exports.

Why do the numbers differ between the two?

Expect differences. They come from how each tool counts, not from missing data:

  • Attribution model. Revenue First Analytics credits a sale to the buyer’s first visit (first touch). GA4 reports usually credit the session that led to the purchase, so the same order can appear under different channels. See How Sales Are Attributed to Traffic Sources.
  • When a sale counts. Revenue First Analytics records revenue when the order reaches the status you chose in Settings (Completed by default) and deducts refunds afterwards. GA4 records the purchase event when the thank-you page loads. See Refunds, Cancellations and Subscription Renewals.
  • Consent and privacy mode. In Privacy mode, and in Consent mode before consent, anonymous visitors get a new ID each day, so a returning visitor counts once per day. GA4 under Consent Mode handles visitors who decline differently. See Choosing a Privacy Mode.
  • Ad blockers. Revenue First Analytics sends data to your own site rather than a third-party domain, so it is blocked less often than the GA4 tag.

Can I send Revenue First Analytics events to GA4?

Yes, through Google Tag Manager. The plugin pushes page view, add to cart, begin checkout and purchase events to window.dataLayer in a format you can map to GA4 e-commerce tags. See Google Tag Manager and dataLayer Events for WooCommerce.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will running both slow down my site?
The Revenue First Analytics script is small and loads asynchronously, so it adds little on top of GA4. Removing GA4 makes pages lighter.
Which numbers should I trust for revenue?
For revenue, use Revenue First Analytics: it reads completed WooCommerce or Easy Digital Downloads orders and deducts refunds, so it matches your store, not a browser event.
Do I need a cookie banner if I remove GA4?
Not in Privacy mode. See Cookies, Data Stored and Data Retention.
