In Revenue First Analytics you filter the whole dashboard by clicking a row in any report card. Click Organic search in the Channel tab, a path in the Entry Pages tab or mobile in the Device tab, and the tiles, the chart and every other card update to show only visitors who match. Filters on different dimensions combine, so you can see the revenue that mobile visitors from Google produced.
How do you apply a filter?
- Open the card and tab you want to filter by, for example Traffic Sources and the Channel tab.
- Hover a row. A small funnel icon appears at its right edge.
- Click the row. It turns blue, the other rows in that tab fade, and a chip such as Channel: Organic search appears above the metric tiles after the label Filtered by:.
The same works inside the View details table that opens from the grid icon of a card: click a row to filter by it, and the table closes. Filters are kept while you change the date range or granularity, but they are cleared when you reload the page.
Which dimensions can be filtered?
Every tab that has a dimension behind it is clickable. The chip label uses the tab name, or the selected UTM parameter in the Campaign tab.
| Card | Tab | Example chip |
|---|---|---|
| Traffic Sources | Channel | Channel: Organic search |
| Traffic Sources | Referrer | Referrer: instagram.com |
| Traffic Sources | Campaign | Source: newsletter, Medium: email, Campaign: spring_sale, Term: …, Content: … (depends on the dropdown) |
| Products | Product | Product: Hoodie |
| Geography | Country | Country: DE |
| Pages | Pages | Pages: /blog/best-sellers/ |
| Pages | Entry Pages | Entry Pages: / |
| Pages | Exit Pages | Exit Pages: /cart/ |
| Technology | Browser | Browser: Safari |
| Technology | OS | OS: iOS |
| Technology | Device | Device: mobile |
The Category and Tag tabs of the Products card, the Google Search Console keywords and the rows of the Conversions card are not filters. Clicking them does nothing or opens a detail view.
How do filters combine?
- One value per dimension. Clicking a second row in the same tab replaces the first filter. You cannot select Organic search and Organic social together.
- Click again to remove. Clicking the highlighted row removes that filter.
- Different dimensions combine with AND. A Channel filter plus a Device filter shows visitors who match both. Each active filter gets its own chip.
- The date range still applies. Filters narrow the visitors inside the selected range; they never extend it.
How do you clear filters?
Click a chip in the filter bar to remove that filter. When two or more filters are active, a Clear all link appears next to the chips and removes them all at once. The filter bar disappears when no filter is active.
What changes when a filter is active?
A filter is sent with every data request the dashboard makes, so these parts update together:
- The metric tiles (Visitors, Revenue, Orders, Conv. rate, Rev/visitor, Bounce rate, Session time and the traffic metrics), except Online, which always counts everyone active in the last five minutes.
- The main chart.
- All breakdown cards, including the one you clicked in, the Products card and the Google Search Console card.
- The Goal tab of the Conversions card, so you can see goal completions for the filtered visitors.
The Funnel tab and the User and Converted lists follow the date range but ignore filters.
How does the plugin decide which visitors match?
A filter works at the visitor level, not the pageview level. The plugin first finds every visitor who matched the value at least once inside the date range: one session that came from Organic search, one pageview of /pricing/, one session on a mobile device. It then reports all of those visitors’ activity in the range, and the conversions recorded for them in the range.
For example, a visitor arrives from Google on Monday, comes back by typing the address on Wednesday and orders. With the filter Channel: Organic search, both visits and the order are included, because that visitor matched the channel once in the range. This is why the Channel tab’s own Revenue column, which uses the first touch stored on each order, can differ slightly from the Revenue tile under a Channel filter. First touch means the channel, referrer and landing page of the buyer’s first known visit; see How Sales Are Attributed to Traffic Sources.
How long the plugin can recognize the same visitor depends on the tracking mode. In Privacy mode a visitor gets a new identity every day, so a filter matches per day. With the _rfa_vid cookie (Consent mode after consent, or Full tracking) it matches across days. See Choosing a Privacy Mode.
How do you answer practical questions with filters?
How much revenue did Instagram bring to a landing page?
- In Traffic Sources, open the Referrer tab and click instagram.com. If you tag your Instagram links with UTM parameters, use the Campaign tab instead and click the source value.
- In the Pages card, open Entry Pages and click the landing page path.
- Read the Revenue and Orders tiles. They now cover visitors who came from Instagram and started a session on that page during the range.
The Entry Pages row itself shows the revenue credited to that page as the landing page of the buyer’s first visit, which is the stricter first-touch view. Both numbers are useful; see Pages, Entry Pages and Exit Pages.
What is the mobile conversion rate from Google?
- In the Channel tab click Organic search, or in the Referrer tab click google.com (or your local Google domain).
- In the Technology card, open Device and click mobile.
- Read the Conv. rate tile. Click desktop in the Device tab to swap the device filter and compare.
The same pattern answers most questions: pick the audience with one or two filters, then read the tiles or any other card. For what each channel means, see Channels, Referrers and Campaigns Report; for the tiles, see Dashboard Overview.
