Getting Started with UTM Tracking

UTM Tracking by WPGens captures the marketing source of every visitor and links it to the WooCommerce orders they place. It shows you exactly which campaigns, channels, and links are driving sales, right inside your WordPress dashboard, without any external service.

What you need

  • WordPress 5.9 or newer
  • WooCommerce 4.2 or newer (the plugin is fully compatible with High-Performance Order Storage)
  • PHP 7.4 or newer

Step 1 – Install the plugin

  1. Download the plugin ZIP file from your WPGens account.
  2. In WordPress, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin.
  3. Choose the ZIP file, click Install Now, then Activate.

Step 2 – Add your license key

A license key unlocks automatic updates. Open Marketing > UTM Tracker > Settings, paste the Licence Key you received by email, and save. See Activating Your License & Updates for details.

Step 3 – Start tracking

That’s it, there is nothing else to configure. As soon as the plugin is active it begins recording the traffic source of every visitor in a cookie. When a visitor checks out, that source is attached to their order automatically.

Where to find your data

  • Per order: open any order to see its Order Source box, and add a Source column to the Orders list.
  • Reports: open Marketing > UTM Tracker for the full analytics dashboard.
