If you run a multilingual or multi-currency WooCommerce store with WPML, both Points and Rewards for WooCommerce and Loyalty Program for WooCommerce work with it out of the box. Shoppers earn the same loyalty points no matter which currency they check out in, and loyalty emails are translated and sent in each customer’s own language. No custom code is required.

Consistent Points Across Currencies (WCML)
WPML provides multi-currency for WooCommerce through its WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency component, usually referred to as WCML. When a shopper browses and checks out in a currency other than your store base currency, the price seen at checkout is the converted amount. If the loyalty engine used that converted amount directly, a customer paying in USD would earn a different number of points than a customer paying the equivalent amount in EUR or GBP.
The plugin solves this by converting every product price back to your WooCommerce base currency before points are calculated. Customers still see prices and totals in their chosen currency. Only the points engine works internally with the base currency value, so the same purchase always earns the same points regardless of the active currency.
How the Multi-Currency Integration Works
The integration activates automatically when WCML multi-currency mode is enabled on your site. It detects the shopper’s active currency through WCML and reverse-converts the price back to base currency using WCML’s own conversion, so the exchange rates always match the rates WPML applies to your store. If the active currency is already the base currency, no conversion is needed and the price is used as is.
Because it relies on WCML’s own conversion rather than a separate rate table, points stay accurate even when you change your exchange rates in WPML. There is nothing to keep in sync on the loyalty side.
Loyalty Emails in the Customer’s Language (WPML String Translation)
On a multilingual store, your loyalty emails should reach each customer in their own language. When WPML String Translation is active, the plugin registers its loyalty email fields for translation and switches the WPML language to the recipient’s language while each email is being built. The email subject, title, body content, and button label are all translatable, so the whole message arrives in the right language, with links resolving to the correct localized URLs.
You enter your email content once in your default language, then provide translations in WPML String Translation. The plugin exposes its email strings under the wpgens-loyalty-emails context so they are easy to find.
Setup Steps
- Install and activate WPML, along with WPML String Translation and WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency (WCML).
- Enable multi-currency mode in WCML and add the currencies you sell in, each with its exchange rate.
- Install and activate Points and Rewards for WooCommerce or Loyalty Program for WooCommerce.
- Leave the currency handling alone. There is nothing to configure. The plugin detects WCML and converts prices to base currency for points automatically.
- Enter your loyalty email content in your default language, then open WPML String Translation and translate the email strings for each language.
- Test it. Shop in a secondary currency and confirm the points match the base currency value. Trigger a loyalty email for a customer in a secondary language and confirm it arrives translated.
